Saudi Empty Quarter

We will begin our trip in Riyad towards the Empty Quarter, visiting several sites from Thesiger's second expedition in 1948 and the natural reserve of Uruq Bani Maarid as well as the massive rock art site of Hima wells. The wells were an important water source on the ancient incense trade route, which traditionally embarked from Oman and Yemen all the way to Egypt and the Mediterranean.

We will also view petroglyphs of the ibex and the horse riders, which can be seen throughout Arabia, especially around the Empty Quarter in Oman and Saudi Arabia, which may be related to the history of horse domestication. 

Our detailed survey and experience in crossing the desert enables us to be pioneers in exploring remote desert landscapes and rarely seen prehistoric rock art sites.
