Tribe Oman is now Desert Quarter - welcome to our new website!
As professional navigators of Bedouin origin, we understand and respect the desert. We are seasoned veterans of the desert with strong foundations in Bedouin culture, offering well-mounted camping tours to the Empty Quarter in Oman and Saudi Arabia with small groups of at least six travelers.
We follow the footsteps of pioneer explorers, their books and maps also modern books and maps as well , the magnificent map compelled by the Royal Geographical Society of Thiseger traverse of the Empty Quarter 1945 – 1950 guided us to a proper exploration of the Empty Quarter and lead us to gain knowledge of the frankincense trade route which starts in Salalah and pass through Najran and its incredibly important rock art sites in Saudi Arabia .
Our former company name in Egypt was Tribe Expeditions, still our channel on you tube have the same name , in 2016 we launched Tribe Oman website for our Tours in Oman and in 2024 we launched our company in Oman : Desert Quarter for tourism & investment .SPC.

After more than fifteen years of leading desert expeditions across Egypt's Gilf El Kibeer, Mahmoud moved to Oman in 2016, where he launched his desert travel agency, focusing this time on Oman and Saudi Arabia's Empty Quarter. Mahmoud was deeply inspired by Wilfred Thessiger's adventures, and has since retracted the explorer's footsteps and stumbled upon his own unique discoveries in the desert. He says he feels most at home when completely immersed in the deep desert,.
Our assistant guide Ayed is a Bedouin from Dahab, a coastal town in Southern Sinai, Egypt. He's a descendant of the Muzina tribe with 40 years’ experience in commercial safari trips. He has been working with Mahmoud on desert expeditions in Egypt since 2007, and joined our operations in Oman in 2019. Not only is he an excellent driver, but he always bakes fresh bread over an open fire in the desert for the next morning.
Mohamed is a mechanical engineer from Alexandria who loves adventure and cars and enjoys engaging in the trip operation with great energy .
Is it the vastness of its landscape, its mysterious and sometimes unsettling nature, or is it the fact that it holds so many secrets and remains unconquered? We say, all of the above.
In all our years of exploring and navigating the different deserts of Arabia and North Africa, we’ve found that each trip renews our sense of calm, tightens our bond with our fellow travelers, but also reminds us of how good it is to switch off and immerse ourselves in absolute quiet among undisturbed nature.
But to truly appreciate and understand the magnitude and multitude of the Empty Quarter, we highly recommend Wilfred Thesiger’s 1959 masterpiece Arabian Sands, which introduced the true nature of the desert and its Bedouin population.
The earlier travels of Bertram Thomas and St John Philby revealed the vast possibilities of the Arabian Empty Quarter. It was left to Wilfred Thesiger to cross this unexplored and mysterious area of huge dunes, not once but twice, during which he came to understand one of the world’s most formidable deserts as well as the inner lives of the mysterious Bedouin tribes that had made it their home.
These books, especially Arabian Sands, are great source materials and a good starting point for any traveler seeking a proper exploration of the Empty Quarter, Oman and Southern Arabia.
